Memoirs of an Introvert

Memoirs of an Introvert is a prelude to my series titled Anxiety of Corvus which chronicles my complex relationship with Corvus, my corvine alter-ego who embodies my social anxiety.

This set of drawings narrates the early stage where I first met Corvus at birth. He became my friend during childhood and was always consulting me when signs of social anxiety began to surface. In the end, I realized I have a problem and transformed into Corvus myself. The story continues with a set of installations.
BIRTH

MOTHER TOLD ME
I HIT MY HEAD
DURING MY BIRTH
MAYBE THAT’S HOW
CORVUS WAS BORN
THAT QUIET LONESOME
ANTI-SOCIAL PATHETIC BIRD
INSIDE MY HEAD
SCHOOL

A DAILY BATTLEFIELD
EYES STARING
JUDGING MY EXISTENCE
LUNCH IN THE TOILET
TO AVOID THEM
CORVUS, YOU’RE MY
ONLY FRIEND
QUIET

WHY DOES TALKING
FEEL LIKE A DUTY?
CORVUS SAYS I’M AN INTROVERT
CONVERSING MAKES ME DIZZY
I GET BLANK WHEN I TALK
BEING QUIET
SEEMS TO BE WRONG
BEING ALONE
SEEMS TO BE PATHETIC
PARTY

WHERE PEOPLE GO
TO MEET PEOPLE
MY ENERGY IS DRAINED
FROM SOCIALISING
WHAT AM I DOING HERE?
PROBLEM

FATHER DOESN’T UNDERSTAND
MOTHER TRIES TO HELP
CORVUS LASHES OUT
BUT I’M TOO WEAK
CORVUS

I DON’T BELONG ANYWHERE
BUT IN MY OWN WORLD
ALONE
TONIGHT, AMONG THE SHADOWS
THE BOY BECAME ANXIETY HIMSELF
I AM CORVUS
